Kiss at Download: Photography by Olly Stabler
On Sunday 14th June, our team at Charter A were lucky enough to transport Kiss to their explosive gig at Download festival. Flying them from Battersea airfield to East Midlands Airport for the festival, Gene, Paul, Eric and Tommy were able to appear on stage just 60 minutes after we landed. Having painted our helicopter with the Kiss logo, we were able to give them a luxury kiss-inspired ride to set them up for one of the best performances of the festival.
Despite the bad weather and the need to fly extremely low, our pilot delivered the band safely to East Midlands Airport after a 40-minute flight. Once we landed, Gene’s exact words to us were, ‘You guys rock!’ You can find out more about the amazing performance Kiss delivered on the main stage as well as a video of Detroit Rock City on the official website.
Have a look at the pre-performance video of Kiss landing in our helicopter sporting the Kiss brand and arriving at East Midlands Airport. We then drove them to Donington airfield where the festival was held – now that’s what we call an entrance!

Kiss followed performances from Mötley Crüe, Slash, and Billy Idol on the main stage on Sunday, as well as Enter Shikari, Lamb of God, Muse, Slipknot, and Faith No More who played on various stages over the weekend. Despite the torrential rain and extremely muddy fields, bands and audience embraced the festival alike and there are claims that this was the best Download yet!
