Why fly

Why hire a helicopter to Silverstone?

Race weekend is the hardest day of the year to reach the circuit by road. A helicopter turns a long, uncertain drive into a short flight with a time you can plan around.

Leave the race-day roads behind

Silverstone says parking near the circuit is very limited, some car parks are up to a 30-minute walk from the gates, there is no drop-off facility, and visitors should allow at least an extra hour. A helicopter takes the road out of your day.

Arrive at the circuit’s own heliport

On event days Silverstone runs its own heliport operation, with a bespoke terminal announced in 2025 offering over 8,500 sq ft of covered space. Slots are limited and every landing needs permission, so we request yours early and confirm it with you.

Your timings, your group

Fly in for the first session and home after the last, or take a same-day return around a business meeting. The whole helicopter is hired for your party, and larger groups can be flown in more than one aircraft.

Silverstone helicopter transfer

How a Silverstone helicopter transfer works

One team handles the aircraft, the landing permission and the return. You send us four details and we do the rest.

Tell us your plans

Your date and event, how many are travelling, your luggage, where you want to leave from and when you must be at the circuit.

We plan and quote

We check the aircraft, request the landing slot and send one clear quote that says what is included.

Confirm your flight

Sign and pay, and we confirm your aircraft. We check the weather with you the day before and again on the morning.

Fly to Silverstone

Arrive at the heliport about 10 minutes before departure. Your helicopter lands at the circuit and brings you home at the time you chose.

Helicopter flight times to Silverstone

These are straight-line estimates for a twin-engine helicopter and a guide, not a promise. Routing, air traffic control and the wind change the real figure, and your quote confirms the time for your own route.

Prices

Silverstone helicopter hire prices

Helicopters are priced by the aircraft and the flying time, not by the seat. These are indicative starting prices for a standard day. Race weekend, a larger helicopter or a long wait on site changes them, and we tell you before you pay.

From London Heliport, Battersea£14,950+ VAT, indicative return price

About 48 nautical miles each way, 20 to 25 minutes in the air. A group of four sharing the return would pay under £3,750 each + VAT.

From Denham aerodrome£12,995+ VAT, return in an AS355

Around 25 minutes each way, up to five passengers, subject to weights.

What shapes your price

  • The date, with race weekend busier than a quiet day
  • The helicopter you need for your passengers and luggage
  • Flying time, and whether you want a same-day return with waiting time
  • Your departure point and any landing fees we pass on, shown in your quote

You get one clear quote that says what is included before you commit. Our Helicopter Silverstone guide goes through the price in more detail: what a helicopter to Silverstone costs.

Tell us three things and we can quote quickly: your date, how many people are travelling and where you want to leave from.

The aircraft

Helicopters for Silverstone

Every helicopter on this page is a twin-engine aircraft flown by a professional crew. For the British Grand Prix twin-engine helicopters are needed, which limits availability, so book early.

Race weekend

British Grand Prix helicopter transfers, 2027

Silverstone lists the 2027 British Grand Prix for 2 to 4 July, although the Formula 1 calendar is still described as provisional. Bookings are already being taken.

Day (provisional) What happens
Friday 2 July Practice sessions
Saturday 3 July Qualifying
Sunday 4 July Race day

On race weekend the circuit manages helicopter arrivals through its own heliport operation. In 2025 it said it expected more than 6,000 passengers on over 1,500 flights during the weekend, so slots go early and landing is never guaranteed until your slot is confirmed.

Our Helicopter Silverstone guide to the 2027 British Grand Prix by helicopter covers the weekend in more detail, and see Silverstone Circuit on Helicopter Landing Sites for landing-site information.

We also fly to Silverstone for MotoGP, track days, driving experiences, classic days and business days at The Wing. Outside race weekend the pace is gentler, with easier lead times, but ask for a quote as soon as you have a date.

Questions

Silverstone helicopter questions, answered

How long does a helicopter take to Silverstone?
From London Heliport at Battersea the flight takes 20 to 25 minutes in the air, about 48 nautical miles. From Elstree it is about 21 minutes, from Farnborough about 27, from Biggin Hill about 31 and from Manchester Airport about 45. The wind and routing change the real time, and your quote confirms it.
How much does a helicopter to Silverstone cost?
An indicative return price from London Battersea starts from £14,950 + VAT. From Denham aerodrome a return in an AS355 for up to five passengers, subject to weights, starts from £12,995 + VAT. The final price depends on the date, the helicopter, the number of passengers and any waiting time, and your quote says what is included.
How early should I book a helicopter for the British Grand Prix?
As early as you can. Silverstone lists the 2027 British Grand Prix for 2 to 4 July, provisional for now, and bookings are open. Landing slots on race weekend are limited and twin-engine helicopters are needed, so the earlier you ask, the more choice you have.
Can we fly in and out on the same day?
Yes. Same-day returns are common. We plan your arrival and departure windows around your slot, your programme and the daylight, and keep a margin for the circuit’s own timetable.
Is landing at Silverstone guaranteed?
No. Every landing is subject to landing permission and site suitability, and on event days the circuit’s own heliport operation allocates the slots. We request your slot as part of the booking and tell you early if anything changes.
Where can the helicopter collect us?
London Heliport at Battersea, Biggin Hill, Farnborough, Redhill, Elstree, Denham, Manchester and many other UK sites. With the landowner’s permission a twin-engine helicopter can also collect you from a hotel, golf club, racecourse or private garden with enough clear space.
What happens if the weather is bad?
If the flight is cancelled because of the weather, you pay nothing. We check the forecast with you the day before and again on the morning, and if a flight needs to move we tell you early and talk through a later departure or another day.
How do we get from the heliport to our seats?
Silverstone says there is no drop-off facility at the circuit, and onward travel from the heliport depends on your ticket and the arrangements the circuit makes for the weekend. We tell you what applies to your booking when we quote.
