Helicopter Safety
Our helicopter charter service is always focused primarily on your safety and the rules of helicopter operation within the UK. Weather can be a factor in this sometimes. Our pilots have strict parameters to adhere to ensure your flight is both safe and comfortable. The largest factor when operating a helicopter flight is both forward and vertical visibility. In general terms, we look for a could base of plus 500 feet above sea level and in built-up areas of plus 1000 feet with forwarding viability of 1 kilometre or more.
Single-engine helicopters are more affected by weather than twin-engine helicopters as twin-engine helicopters have many all-weather instruments that allow them to fly in foul weather conditions on instrumentation.
Single and twin-engine helicopters
A twin-engine Helicopter can go further than a single-engine in general with more payload. A Twin-engine Helicopter can also land in smaller spaces such as the London Battersea heliport.
Another big advantage of Twin-engine helicopters is that they can fly in adverse weather conditions because of additional instrumentation that allows for this. In the summer months, a single-engine has more days where it is able to fly and is ideal with light payloads over a relatively short run of up to an hour.
Night Rated Helicopter charter
During the Autumn, Winter, and early Spring months, the day becomes shorter which means that if you use helicopters regularly you will have to use a helicopter that is able and legal to fly at night. Put simply you must be flying in a twin-engine, night-rated helicopter with a night-rated pilot to effectively complete flights within the UK at night in a helicopter.
These types of helicopters tend to be a little larger and more expensive per hour but they are also able to deal with the U Ks inevitably poor seasonal weather.
