Helicopter safety, weather and night flying

Our helicopter charter service puts your safety first and strictly follows the rules of helicopter operation within the UK. Weather conditions can sometimes affect our operations, and our pilots have strict limits to keep every flight safe and comfortable.

What decides whether we fly: the largest factor is forward and vertical visibility. In general terms we look for a cloud base of at least 500 feet above sea level, and at least 1,000 feet over built-up areas, with forward visibility of 1 kilometre or more.
Night flying: as the days shorten in autumn, winter and early spring, you need a helicopter and a pilot that are both legally approved for night flights. In the UK that means a twin-engine, night-rated helicopter with a night-rated pilot.
