CADBURY REVEALS IDENTITY OF THE NEW MILK TRAY MAN

THE MILK TRAY MAN IS BACK, AND THIS TIME HE IS THOUGHTFUL, CARING AND DARING!

3rd February 2016: Following a nation-wide search which saw over 20,000 applications, Cadbury has revealed the identity of the new Milk Tray Man – Patrick McBride, a 39 year old firefighter from Liverpool.

Patrick fought off tough competition from thousands of hopefuls to win the coveted title and bring the Milk Tray Man into the 21st Century. Over the next year Patrick will don the iconic black polo neck as he embarks on his mission to show the nation what real thoughtfulness is.

Alongside the iconic escapades of the Milk Tray Men of the 1960s to the 1990s where they went to extreme lengths in order to deliver a box of chocolates to the women they loved, Patrick’s new role will also see him showing a caring and sensitive side to the enigmatic figure.

Displaying bravery and courage every day in his job as a firefighter, Patrick is also a caring family man who impressed the judges with his down to earth yet heroic nature – the perfect qualities for the modern day Milk Tray Man.

Patrick McBride, Milk Tray Man, said: “When my wife nominated me for this role I never thought I’d actually get it. To be the one selected out of over 20,000 people is incredible and I still have to pinch myself on a daily basis – it is truly life-changing.   I’m honoured to have been chosen to take on this iconic role and I can’t wait to show people the next chapter in the Milk Tray Man story.”

The return of this iconic hero marks the centenary of this much-loved box of chocolates, which celebrated its 100th birthday last year. Hortense Foult Rothenburger, Senior Brand Manager at Mondelez International, said: “We chose Patrick from a long list of applicants because we truly believe he has the qualities of the new Milk Tray Man – someone that is thoughtful as well as adventurous. Over the past few weeks we’ve got to know Patrick really well and are certain he is the right person to carry on the legacy and establish Cadbury Milk Tray as the perfect thoughtful gift.”

Patrick steps into the shoes of James Coombes, the latest Milk Tray Man to have starred in the iconic adverts.  James said: “I think Patrick is the ideal choice and will make a brilliant Milk Tray Man – I couldn’t have picked a better successor myself! He’s incredibly genuine and I’m confident he will make the perfect modern day hero and one I’m very proud to be handing over my duties to. I wish him all the best of luck in this new role and can’t wait to see him in action.”

For his first mission as the new Milk Tray Man Patrick has asked the public to nominate a friend, colleague or loved one who they think deserves to receive his first delivery of Cadbury Milk Tray. To enter just tweet @CadburyUK between 9am and 12pm on Wednesday 3rd February and tell us why someone you know deserves to be the first person to receive a box of Cadbury Milk Tray from the New Milk Tray Man.  The winner will receive their delivery on Wednesday 3rd February.

All because the lady still loves Cadbury Milk Tray.
